A Cat Is Living My Dream

Today is a big day!  My kitty cousin, Misty, is moving to her new home in Maine!  And not just any home.  She is moving to MY dream house!  My Grandparents sold their home and are moving to their lake house, with my cat cousins – Misty, Kaz and Vegas.  I haven’t even met Kaz and Vegas because they always run and hide when I come to visit.  How rude!  But I digress.  Misty will now be living year round in a house at a lake.  I’ve been dreaming about living there ever since I visited last summer.  So Misty, since you’ve never been there before, please allow me to suggest how to spend your days.  Ok to be honest, I have no clue what you do all day.  But this is how a typical day would be for me if I lived at the lake house.

Early each morning Asa and I would roll out of bed and jump in the lake for a swim.  I would be sure to bark loudly enough to wake Pepere, so he could throw the ball for a lively game of dock diving.  Feeling refreshed from my swim, we would head inside for breakfast, complete with scrambled eggs in my bowl.  Babci always adds a little something extra to my kibble.  Then I would settle in for a nice nap under the hammock, drifting off to sleep as I listen to the sounds of nature.  Ok, I would prefer to sleep on the hammock with Pepere, but I haven’t figured out how to get on it yet.  Perhaps Misty, you’ll have better luck with that detail.  Following my mid-morning nap, I would go on a hike in the woods with my family.  As the day warms up, Asa and I would once again enjoy a refreshing swim, followed by a canoe trip around the lake to visit with the neighbors.  Then there will be more napping and more swimming.  A perfect day!  Just how Golden Wolves are intended to live!  Oops I mean cats.  Just how cats are intended to live!

Ok, now that I think about it.  All this luxury is totally wasted on a cat.  Misty has no appreciation for the finer things in life.  I’ve never actually seen her go outside.  Heck, my kitty cousin doesn’t even like water!  She’ll probably be more interested in the boxes used for packing than anything else.  It’s not fair that she gets to live in MY dream house!  I suppose I should stay positive and focus on how Misty’s big move will benefit me, and not dwell on how it is wasted on her.  Now whenever we visit Babci and Pepere we’re guaranteed to go swimming.  Even better, next time they puppy sit us, we’ll be vacationing at the lake!  Sleepovers at my Grandparents’ house were awesome before, but now they are going to be epic!  Besides the house itself will make it possible to finally meet my elusive kitty cousins Kaz and Vegas.  It is open concept, so no more closed doors to block me from their hiding places!  Also it will be nice to have Babci and Pepere living in the same state as us.  After all Maine’s state motto is “the way life should be!”  And who knows, maybe this change in scenery will make my kitty cousin Misty less grumpy….HAHAHAHA!  Ok, now I’m really dreaming!

Jealousy aside, congratulations Misty, Kaz and Vegas on your new home.  I hope you love it as much as I do when I visit!

That look of longing knowing that my dream house is wasted on a cat.

How I would start each day.

How I would start each day.

Misty doesn't even look remotely excited about her big move.

Misty, I understand change is scary, but trust me.  You’re going to love your new home doing whatever it is cats do for fun!
