Asa’s Six Month Performance Review

Asa has been living with us for six months now.  Time for another performance review!  I’ll be using the same questions from his First 100 Days interview:

How do you see your role in this family?

Now that I’ve been here for six months, I feel that my role has been clearly defined as Entertainment Director.  Far too often I see you wasting precious time napping, Dad overly focused on his iPhone, and Mom too busy cleaning up after us.  Life is short!  Time to go out and play fetch, eat some flowers, and explore new places!  Also my role as Family Ambassador continues.  Whenever we are out and about people cannot resist my cuteness.  So thanks to me you have met so many new friends.  Heck, at Strawberry Festival alone people lined up to pet me!  So you’re welcome for making your lives much more exciting and filled with new friends.

What are your greatest accomplishments thus far?

Well from Mom and Dad’s perspective I’m sure they would say my greatest accomplishments so far are my mastery of commands, learning new tricks, and gaining self-control that I don’t start barking before every mealtime.  That last one was the hardest.  I still worry that they may forget to feed us.  But I guess considering you haven’t starved to death before my arrival, they are on top of this routine.  However, in keeping with that line of thought, I personally feel my greatest accomplishment was the morning I tricked Dad into feeding us breakfast twice!  That was sheer brilliance!  I have not been able to repeat that trick, but will continue trying.

What are your goals for the next 100 days?

I’d like to continue working on the goals I stated in my First 100 Days Performance Review.  I have gone on many grand adventures to beaches, mountains, and lakes; and would like to continue my exploration of this big world.  I was told my trip to Bauneg Beg Mountain was just a warm up, and that there are bigger mountains to climb.  Also I’d like to expand my area of exploration beyond Southern Maine and Seacoast New Hampshire.  That trip to Massachusetts was very intriguing.  In addition, although Mom and Dad have made impressive progress with their training, there are still a few things I’d like to teach them to accommodate my lifestyle.  I should not have to come to them for belly rubs.  They should automatically seek me out, and give them freely.  Obviously more training is needed.

Is there anything that we can do better?

YES!  Move!  Last week at the lake was amazing!  Who knew one could roll out of bed and jump right into the water for a day filled with swimming and fun?!  No offense to our current location.  The neighbors are friendly and all.  But if I could spend my days swimming that would be puppy paradise!  I’m surprised you haven’t suggested this already.  But other than that little hiccup, all things considered you, Mom and Dad are doing a good job.  Oh and thanks for listening to my concerns in the last interview about holidays, and warning me about the 4th of July.  I’d still be hiding under the bed if you didn’t warn me the sky would inexplicably start exploding.  Thanks for looking out for me big brother!  But in case you’re wondering, I’m still Alpha!
