Chris’ Pets for Vets Fundraiser

Win great prizes while supporting veterans and rescue animals at the Charity Bingo and Vendor Fair to benefit Chris’ Pets for Vets, this Saturday, April 8, 2017.  There will be 15 rounds of bingo played, and cards will be sold in packs of 5, 10 or 15 and sold for $1 per round.  Bingo winners will receive donated prizes with a minimum value of $25.  There will also be a vendor fair with clothing, jewelry and cookware for sale.  Hosted by MCC Kappa Beta Delta and Veterans Club, this event will be taking place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Manchester Community College Student Center (1066 Front Street, Manchester NH).  All proceeds will benefit Chris’ Pets for Vets.

Chris’ Pets for Vets is a program of Annie’s Angels Memorial Fund that partners with local animal rescue shelters to provide companion pets to current military and veterans at no charge to the family. Working with the Cocheco Valley Humane Society in Dover, NH and the Salem Animal Rescue League in Salem, NH, Chris’ Pets for Vets pays 100% of the adoption fee.  Companion animals can make a tremendous difference in the life of a veteran, especially one who is suffering from PTSD.  Chris’ Pets for Vets was created in honor of Christopher Journeau for PTSD awareness.  Chris served with the US Army, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team while fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  At the age of 23 and six months after his return home to Stratham, NH, he took his own life.  The end result was he had been suffering from PTSD and nobody knew it until it was too late.  Chris’ Pets for Vets works with local animal shelters to pair veterans with a free pet, so they can more easily deal with PTSD, helping to heal the deep emotional scars, and possibly save their lives.
