Lemmy’s Vacation

I’m feeling a bit nostalgic today.  So I’d like to share with your this email my big brother Lemmy sent his Momma Butter on Columbus Day, October 10, 2009.

Dear Momma Butter,

Happy Columbus Day! I hope you have a fun day rolling in a big pile of leaves.

I went on vacation to my Grandparents’ house! Mom and Dad went to some place where “dogs aren’t allowed” which quite frankly seems like a horrible place to me. I’m not sure why they’d even go. But I spent eight wonderful days with Pepere and Babci, and Grandpa and Grandma came over to play with me every day too! In fact between all of them I went on FOUR walks a day! Oh and don’t even get me started about the delicious meals Pepere made for me. Each morning I’d have eggs with kibble, and in the evening he’d mix in wonderful meats including salmon, chicken, and my new favorite meat – venison! It was wonderful! I even got to play with my puppy second cousin, Casey. She’s an eight month old Bichon who would literally run circles around me.

There was one glitch though. My kitty cousin, Misty, was not the best host. She wanted the run of the house, so I had to stay in the family room. But that didn’t bother me because that’s where the people were. What did bother me is she would sit on the other side of the gate and knock my bag of treats out of the kitchen cabinet, and proceed to eat MY TREATS in front of me! Then adding insult to injury, one time when I was sleeping she snuck into the family room and stole my favorite toy! But I got the last laugh. Her normal routine in the evening was Pepere would pet her while watching TV. Boy was Misty mad when she saw I was getting that special treatment instead. In fact, one evening she couldn’t take it anymore, so she boldly came into the family room, hissed at me, then sat on the arm of the chair so Pepere could pet her too. Poor Pepere couldn’t eat his evening snack because he was petting us with both hands. Me and the cat got along better after that night.

Tail Wags!  Love,

Lemmy

Dearest,

Wonderful to hear from you. We’re planning a big leaf party too. Maybe the last swim in the pond for awhile as well.

Your vacation sounded wonderful, maybe I should take a vacation from Pansy’s puppies.  As it is, I have my hands full with the brat pack. Clover has joined a biker gang!  Keep active, all those snacks look like they may be taking their toll on you? Just kidding, you look great and just like me!

All My Love,

Momma Butter

I’d like to think that somewhere over Rainbow Bridge Lemmy, Momma Butter, Pansy, Clover…and yes, Misty too, are all playing together in a big pile of leaves this Columbus Day Weekend.

Mom always said Lemmy was the color of fall.
