In my last post I wrote about why I like to have my dogs wear orange vests while hiking in remote areas.  Equally important to me is making sure my dogs have bells on.  The orange vests help me watch them but with two running circles around me I like also being able to hear where they are.  Without laying eyes on them, the bells let me know how far away they are, if they are walking, running or stopped.  Combined with the orange vests there is no mistaking them for wildlife and it gives me that peace-of-mind to always know where they are around me.  I even purchased two different sounding bells so I could audibly tell my dogs apart.

If you hike with your dogs on low traffic or remote trails I recommend an orange vest and a bell.
