On the DL

I can’t believe Mom and Dad put me on the Disabled List!  I tweaked my hind leg the other day.  Nothing serious.  But I admit I’ve been favoring the other leg when I walk.  However, that is no reason to keep me away from my responsibilities!

I cringed when I saw the rookie head off to do neighborhood patrol without me.  Asa is too distracted by sticks and leaves to do a proper neighborhood patrol.  What if today’s the day Aliens descend on our quiet street?  What if the Zombie Apocalypse spills out from some unassuming looking house?  Asa can’t possibly handle dire situations such as these by himself!  Just watching Dad and Asa head off down the driveway, I knew they were already in trouble because they didn’t have me to set the pace.

Adding insult to injury, Mom didn’t think I should go with Dad on our weekly trip to the dump.  She thought jumping in and out of the car would aggravate my leg.  Well would you believe the one day I didn’t go, is the day they had a brand new box of dog treats at the dump!  According to Dad, my best friend who works there looked disappointed when Dad opened the hatchback and my head didn’t pop out as expected.  He was kind enough to send a treat home to me, but that pales in comparison to enjoying a crunchy fresh treat al fresco at the dump, surrounded by the delightful smell of rotting garbage.

And now my friends, I must break the sad news to you.  Due to my injury there won’t be a beach review tomorrow.  Although I promised Mom and Dad that I wouldn’t run…jump…swim…dig…or even wrestle with Asa, they didn’t believe me.  But not to worry, although there won’t be a beach review, I have an extra special announcement of a place I’d like you to visit.  So be sure to check in on Tuesday!  But for now, I will continue to follow doctor’s orders and rest my sore leg.

My apologies if the Zombie Apocalypse or Alien Invasion happens today. I must rest my sore leg.
