Planet Dog Ball Charity Gala

Attention four-legged princesses and prince charmings, you are cordially invited to attend The Planet Dog Foundation’s inaugural Planet Dog Ball Charity Gala to raise awareness and funds for two organizations that provide service dogs to Veterans.  This dog friendly black tie gala will include a cocktail hour, dinner featuring local cuisine, silent and live auctions, live music and dancing all to honor and support Veterans.  Well-behaved dogs are welcome to attend and will enjoy their own doggy treat bar, doggy photo booth, and an on-site dog walker and doggy daycare while their owners dance the night away.  There will even be a celebrity appearance by NBC’s “Today” Puppy With a Purpose, Charlie!

All proceeds raised will directly benefit the adoption/breeding, raising, training and placement of service dogs by America’s VetDogs and Maine-based K9s on the Front Line.  America’s VetDogs trains and places guide dogs for individuals who are blind or have low vision; PTSD service dogs to help mitigate the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder; hearing dogs for those who have lost their hearing later in life; service dogs for those with other physical disabilities, and facility dogs as part of the rehabilitation process in military and VA hospitals.  It costs over $50,000 to breed, raise, train, and place one assistance dog.  However, all of VetDogs’ services are provided at no charge to the individual, thanks to generous donors.  Based in Portland, Maine, K9s on the Front Line supplies fully trained PTSD service dogs at no cost to Veterans.  Their team of experts works with Veterans to pair them with an appropriate service dog, whether it is evaluating and training the person’s pet, or finding and identifying the best possible match for that individual’s needs.  Through an extensive training program with experienced police K9 handlers, K9s on the Front Line will pair Veterans with a service dog that will walk the path of healing beside them.

The Planet Dog Ball Charity Gala takes place on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM at the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel in Portland, Maine.  For more information, and tickets (including tickets for dogs) please visit Planet Dog Ball, or contact Elizabeth Fagan at efagan@planetdog.com or 207-761-1515 x109.  Black Tie Optional (Cocktail Attire Recommended).
