Polar Puppy Problems

Despite the surprise snowstorm last week, Spring is slowly but surely making an appearance here in Maine.  But with it comes a whole new set of problems for my little brother.  Namely, where to go to the bathroom?!  From the day Asa came home we thought we were doing an excellent job housebreaking him.  Little did we realize he was a literal little fellow.  Now when he needs to relieve himself, he searches frantically for snow to do it on.  Making matters worse, as the winter wore on and the snowbanks got higher, Asa started to climb to the top of snowbanks to do his business.  So I can only imagine his frustration now that not only are the snowbanks getting smaller, some have disappeared altogether!  Thankfully there is still enough snow in our yard for his needs.  But things are getting rather awkward when we are out and about and nature calls.  On our walk yesterday he actually tried to drag Mom to a shady snow covered spot in a neighbor’s yard!  How embarassing!

Another problem that has me deeply concerned is his insistence on ripping up each patch of grass as it emerges from under the snow.  I agree with him that Spring grass tastes the best, but he isn’t eating it.  He is merely ripping it up and playing with it.  If this behavior continues I fear I won’t have lush green grass to roll in come Summer.

Mom and Dad are working on trying to correct these issues, and I have faith they will eventually succeed.  But in the meantime, I think I’m going to try to avoid going out in public with the little bugger.  His behavior is really quite embarassing.

Why is the white stuff disappearing?
