The Tell-Tale Tail

Quiet, please.  Asa is sleeping in this morning after a having a rough night.  He went looking for trouble, but trouble found him instead!  I may have mentioned before that Asa is a bit of a night owl.  So it was no surprise when in the middle of the night he went in search of adventure.  What was a surprise was where he ended up.

So there I was enjoying a good dream about running on the beach, when Asa rudely woke me up wanting to play.  I’m accustomed to this though, so I just ignored him and went back to sleep.  Annoyed, Asa went in search of his new favorite squeaky toy, Ms. Caterpillar.  But sadly Ms. Caterpillar is now put away at night, ever since the time he kept Mom awake with its squeaking.  This led Asa with no choice but to search for other toys to keep him occupied.

Recently Asa discovered the downstairs bathroom door can be easily opened with a head-butt.  Finally he figured out a good use for that big block head of his!  So the puppy battering ram headed into the bathroom in search of shoes.  Next thing I heard was the click of the door shutting, the thud of a shoe hitting the floor, followed by a surprised yelp.  Yep, Asa somehow locked himself in the bathroom.  I waited a few moments for what should have been the proper response to such a problem – barking.  However, it being my happy-go-lucky little brother, after a few head-butt thuds, a moment of silence and a sigh, I heard the thump of him laying down resigned to his fate.  No wonder Dire Wolves went extinct!  I just laughed, and rolled over to go back to sleep.

Mom was the first person to come down this morning, and was confused as to why it was only me who greeted her.  She looked in his usual spots, in our crate, under the table, and even on his new favorite place the couch.  Then right on cue, she heard the sound coming from the bathroom of a tail wagging against the wall.  Only my goofball brother would happily wag his tail when trapped rather than bark to alert everyone he’s in trouble!
