Recently I read an amusing article by the AKC listing Golden Retrievers as the fourth smartest dog, behind Border Collies, Poodles and German Shepherds.  With all due respect, clearly their research is flawed.  We are brilliant and should be ranked at the top of that list.  So while I enjoy a little rest and relaxation from my hard work this Labor Day Weekend, please enjoy this photographic proof of my superior problem solving skills:

Step 1: Identify the problem.  Dad left my ball on top of the grill again.

Step 2: Think of a plan to correct that problem. I must retrieve my ball from the grill without breaking the No Jumping Rule.

Step 3: Make sure Mom isn’t nearby to reprimand me.  Mom can be way too overprotective.  What could possibly go wrong?

Step 4: Enjoy the spoils of my well conceived problem solving skills! Nom…nom…nom…

Step 5: Now back to work. A Golden’s work is never done, even on Labor Day Weekend.  This kiddie pool won’t fill itself with water!
