Fall Clean Up

Well after weeks of dealing with the leaves cluttering my yard, it has become painfully apparent that Mom and Dad are in no hurry to clean them up.  So I’ve decided to take matters into my own paws…and make Asa do it!  As the saying goes, “a little hard work never killed anyone,” and I feel as part of his homeschooling it is about time he learns the value of doing chores.

Convincing Asa to take on this monumental task is actually easier than it sounds.  Ever since he was a little puppy, he had a fascination with leaves.  Last winter, he fancied himself a “search and rescue dog” and would happily dig through the snow to save them from their icy tomb…only to make a snack out of them.  This obsession with leaves has continued his whole life.  Let’s face it, Asa has never met a leaf he didn’t want to eat.  So all I needed to do was give him a pep talk, and off he went determined to eat all the leaves in the yard.  Ok, so my pep talk consisted of “I bet you can’t eat all those leaves.”  Poor little guy, just can’t refuse a challenge.  So please excuse me while I bask in the precious autumnal sunshine, while Asa goes about his work.
