Family Secret Revealed

As you know, today is Take Your Dog to Work Day.  Ever since I was a puppy I knew my Dad must have a really important job.  Why else would he be away from ME for so many hours a day?!  Therefore my Dad must be a Super Hero!  Here’s the evidence:

1. Obsessed with Gadgets: Super Heroes always have the coolest gadgets, and so does my Dad!  His iPhone is an appendage, he’s constantly talking about the latest technology with his friends / Super Hero cohorts, and whenever a situation develops he inevitably has the right tool for the job!  He even wears  a special e-Vest to carry all his gadgets with him.  Which I might add is way more practical than that belt Batman wears.

2. Wears a Costume:  Super Heroes are known for their flashy outfits.  Whenever my Dad leaves for work he wears a costume too.  In addition to the vest, he dons a shirt and tie.  I’ve never seen him wear those silly clothes on the weekends when he is out and about with me.  Therefore the only explanation is he must hide his identity when heading off to save the planet.  Also unlike Mom who still insists on wearing black despite owning two Goldens, when dressing up Dad knows the art of camouflage and only wears clothes that matches our fur.

3. Stays Cool Under Pressure: Super Heroes never let the stress of the situation distract them from the task at hand, and neither does my Dad.  Case in point, he recently stepped in dog poop during a neighborhood walk.  Did he immediately burn his shoes as Grandma suggested?  No!  He found the nearest garden hose and asked the owner if he could use it.  Well played Dad!  Well played!

4. Master of Self Defense: Super Heroes can handle themselves in any situation.  My Dad has the same skills at disarming his opponent, often without causing unnecessary harm.  Which by the way is more than I can say for some Super Heroes.  How else can you explain why Dad showed no bite marks on his hands and ankles during Zombie Puppy’s (AKA Asa) teething stage?!

5. Always Helps People:  Super Heroes’ main goal in life is to help people, and make their life better.  My Dad shares these priorities as evident in his posts on the value of a good First Aid Kit, and the fact he helps me with this website in recommending fun things to do with your dog.

So there you have it folks.  My Dad is a Super Hero!  That is the only logical explanation as to why he left me at home on Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Chuck Billy firmly believes that Dad is a Super Hero. Asa isn't convinced.
