Fetch Aficionados Rejoice!

Fetch aficionados rejoice!  After months…well maybe just weeks…our long suffering neglect is finally over!  We got a Chuckit Ball Launcher!  It all began innocently enough with Asa happily watching other dogs play fetch with this coveted toy on the beach.  His longing looks did not go unnoticed, and we were often invited to play.  As the summer progressed, Asa got more bold.  You can’t even begin to imagine how embarrassing it was to have my little brother approach complete strangers begging them to throw our tennis ball with their Chuckit Launcher.  As you no doubt recall, I even had to write a letter of apology to Maddie for Asa taking over her game of fetch with her Dad.  All the while, Mom and Dad insisted they threw the ball far enough and were oblivious to the mocking looks we received from the other dogs.  Don’t think I didn’t see that sarcastic eye roll Remy, the Chihuahua, when Mom tossed the ball and it landed only a few feet away!

Well as the Summer progressed, Asa’s longing to own this toy got even more embarrassing.  While attending Kittery Dog Daze Asa refused to leave a display of Chuckit toys.  He stood with his head on the table staring longingly at them while our parents joked with the vendor on how spoiled we are.  Spoiled?!  Spoiled is requiring ice in your water bowl or demanding to be petted while Dad is in an important meeting.  Owning a Chuckit Launcher is not being spoiled.  It is a vital tool for all fetch enthusiasts!

However, enough dwelling on the past.  Mom surprised us with our very own Chuckit Launcher!  I’m so excited that I’m not even going to criticize the fact she bought us the 1.5 times farther launcher and not the 3 times farther as we requested.  I’m just happy now we can race down the length of the entire beach to retrieve our tennis ball!  Not to mention, I will no longer have to keep apologizing to the other dogs for Asa’s behavior while defending my embarassing parents to them.  Now if you please excuse me, we need to properly train Mom and Dad on how to use it before we head off to the beach.
