Helicopter Dog Parents

If you haven’t noticed, Mom and Dad are a little overprotective.  Oh sure in many ways it is comforting to know they have our best interest at heart.  But sometimes they are a little ridiculous.  According to Wikipedia, “A helicopter parent is a parent who pays extremely close attention to a child’s or children’s experiences and problems.  Helicopter parents are so named because, like helicopters, they hover overhead.”  Yep, that pretty much sums up Mom and Dad.

But I’m happy to report they finally made the monumental step of trusting us with a petsitter!  This is huge!  Previously they would only trust our Grandparents to take care of us.  Problem is Babci and Pepere live two states away!  So logistically dropping us off for a night out wasn’t very convenient.  This was especially true recently when my parents got concert tickets.  Would you believe their initial plan was to drive an hour out of their way to drop us off, and then pick us up in the wee hours of the morning?  I’m pretty sure if they went ahead with that plan we wouldn’t be home yet!  I’m not sure who thought of it,  Mom or Dad, but someone had the brilliant idea to leave us at home and have a friend come by to check in on us.  That was awesome!  It gave us some much needed downtime from Mom and Dad’s constant hovering, and we got to get to know our new best friend.  Don’t get me wrong.  We LOVE visiting with our Grandparents, who spoil us rotten.  And we look forward to staying with them when Mom and Dad go on vacation.  But to be able to stay home this one time was pure delight.  We’re making progress people…
