Old Orchard Beach – Maine

UPDATED NOVEMBER 2021

Old Orchard Beach in Maine is a great dog friendly beach. During the off season from the day after Labor Day to May 14th, dogs are allowed all day. Between May 15 through Labor Day dogs are permitted off-leash 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. NO dogs allowed on the beach between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Dogs must be on-leash from 5:00 PM to Dusk. More importantly, dogs MUST stay 100 feet away from the restricted Plover areas. There will be fines for dog owners breaking these rules. Also please note that between Memorial Day and Labor Day dogs are not allowed in the public way from the top of Old Orchard Street to the beach, including the area known as “The Square” from 10:00 AM to 3:00 AM. And as always, please clean up after your pets.

Old Orchard Beach offers seven miles of long sandy beach, with plenty of room for running and playing even during high tide. However, be warned that this is a popular tourist destination and the beach can be crowded during the summer. During the tourist season there is metered parking on the street and private lots that charge for parking.
