Pet CPR and First Aid Class

We at Living with a Golden strongly believe in the importance of knowing the basics of Pet First Aid and CPR.  On Saturday February 24, 2018 Yankee Dog of Brattleboro, Vermont will be hosting a CPR and First Aid for Pets class taught by April Begosh of Healthy Pets NH.  We cannot stress how much we learned during Healthy Pets NH’s 6 hour hands-on workshop, from basic first aid to what to do in an emergency situation.  The workshop moves quickly and a lot of valuable information is presented in an easy to understand approach through lecture, demonstrations and hands-on practice.  April also gears the class to fit the needs of the participants and their specific questions.  Although this is a serious subject, April’s approach is at times lighthearted, and does involve a cat joke or two.

Research done by the American Animal Hospital Association has shown that 60% of all animal hospital visits are emergency in nature and that 1 out of 4 more pet’s lives could be saved if just one first aid technique was delivered before veterinary care.  The CPR and First Aid for Pets class will teach over 50 different lifesaving skill sets that you can use prior to veterinary care.  Information includes what to do if your pet is choking or not breathing, how to safely mobilize for transport an animal with a broken leg, and restraining and muzzling an injured pet.  It also addresses seasonal concerns of what to do if your dog is overheated or has a reaction to a bug bite.  For a complete list of topics to be covered, please visit Healthy Pets NH.

This is a rare opportunity to take this class in Vermont.  Healthy Pets NH will be teaching the class at Yankee Dogs (94 Vernon Tree, Brattleboro, VT) this Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a snow date of February 25.  The cost is $75 payable to Healthy Pets NH, and each class participant receives a workbook filled with valuable information in the event of an emergency, and 2 year certification in CPR and First Aid for Pets.  For more information on this lifesaving class and to pre-register, visit Yankee Dog, or email yankeedogtraining@gmail.com.

If you cannot attend the class this Saturday in Vermont, Healthy Pets NH also works with animal based nonprofits in New England to offer this class as a fundraiser for your organization.  For more information on how you can arrange a CPR and First Aid for Pets Class in your neck of the woods, please contact April Begosh at Healthy Pets NH or by calling 603-674-1176.

Please do not bring your dog to class, stuffed practice dogs will be used for training purposes.
