When Wednesday Is Monday

Monday felt like Friday.  Tuesday turned into an extended weekend.  And now Wednesday is a Monday.  I’m so confused!  Fourth of July falling on a Tuesday has totally thrown my family’s routine into a state of chaos.  The odd work week set Dad up for a rather embarassing moment on Monday.  Mom totally disregarded our usual posting routine.  And Sunday Fun Day turned into Tuesday Fun Day, which most definitely doesn’t have the same ring to it.  Now today I’m exhausted and I don’t know if I should tweet about #MondayMotivation or #WednesdayWisdom!  Is this what the Founding Fathers envisioned when they declared their independence?  What happened to common sense!

On Monday Dad had to work, but clearly his mind was distracted anticipating the holiday revelries planned for Tuesday.  During the Monday morning conference call Dad forgot to hit mute.  Soon his coworkers heard Dad cooing to Asa in his best puppy voice, “Who’s a good puppy?  Are you a good puppy?”  Followed by, “Do you want a belly rub?”  To which his faux pas was quickly brought to his attention when a coworker responded, “Yes, I’d like a belly rub!”  AWKWARD!  I sure hope they know he was talking to Asa and not me!  For the remainder of the day, Dad’s coworkers couldn’t resist periodically asking him, “Who’s a good boy?”  Mom also wasn’t thinking clearly, because she posted our usual Dog Friendly Places recommendation on Monday rather than Tuesday.  I may have to fire her as my secretary.

Worst of all, I was denied a visit with my friends at the dump!  Everyone knows I LOVE dump day! I patiently waited by the car and was very disappointed when Dad told me we weren’t going and it would have to wait for another day.  I hope I didn’t let down my dear friends who work there.  I know they look forward to spending time with me on dump day as much as I look forward to their delicious treats!  Our hiking schedule was torn asunder too.  Would you believe Mom and Dad had the nerve to go out without us on Saturday and Sunday?  NEVER in my life have they gone out two days in a row without me.  Ok, maybe they have, but it still doesn’t make it acceptable.  However, they really threw us off schedule yesterday, when they took us hiking on a Tuesday!  There I was waiting at the office door, ready to dictate my latest blog post to Mom, and instead she didn’t post anything!  She grabbed our adventure backpack and ushered me out to the car.  I’m terribly sorry friends for the interruption in schedule.  But due to this new wild no rules apply week, I have to take advantage of opportunities to go on adventures when they present themselves.

As for Asa, I’ve come to the startling realization he has no concept of what day it is…ever!  His go with the flow attitude apparently makes days of the week unimportant to him!  How can anyone live like that?!  I would think this recent topsy-turvy schedule would at least give him some appreciation for our routine but it hasn’t.  He’s absolutely fine with the chaos!  Well thankfully things are settling down today, and just like how the Continental Congress eventually guided this country into a state of order, so did my persistence with Mom and Dad.  Breakfast was served on time, Dad is prepared for his morning meeting, and as you can see my blog post was dictated to Mom and posted without any problems.  Ok, so Asa still has no idea what day it is, but I guess that is considered a normal day for him.  Now if you’ll please excuse me, I need to take my scheduled morning nap!

Independence Day has thrown my routine into a state of anarchy! Even my favorite bacon scented squeaky ball was replaced with an imposter!
