Ten years ago three dogs, Ginger, Nutmeg and Andy, decided to host a party, celebrating the jubilant spirt of what it means to be a Golden Retriever! But their party also had a purpose. They knew all too well that not all Goldens are blessed to live long and happy lives. So they wanted this gathering of friends to support two causes near and dear to their hearts, the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study and Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue. They also chose a location that understands the joys and tears of dog families, Dog Mountain, home of Stephen Huneck Gallery and Dog Chapel, in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont. Over the years that gathering of friends has grown into an annual tradition attended by dogs from across New England and beyond, and has raised thousands of dollars for these two important causes. This year that tradition continues on May 18, 2024 with the 10th Annual New England Golden Jubilee, and you’re invited!
The day will be filled with games, swimming, hiking, and everyone’s favorite highlight – the Great Tennis Ball Toss! Special thanks to the Glastonbury Tennis Club for their continued donation of tennis balls. Another time honored tradition is Fireball and Friends will be entertaining everyone with their dancing skills. There will also be a cookout for the humans, and of course treats for the pups. A special shoutout to the New England Golden Jubilee’s newest sponsor, Saint Rocco’s Treats, who will be donating their homemade, high quality, tasty treats for the goodie bags each registered attendee will receive! And what Golden doesn’t love having their photo taken? All attendees will gather for a group photo! Be part of the hilarity as the photographer tries to get 100+ Goldens and their humans to face in one direction for an epic group photo!
Another annual highlight is the Kibble Cup Auction which benefits Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue. Raffle prizes include awesome gift baskets with items for both dogs and humans. There will also be a Big Ticket Auction! These items are donated from very special sponsors, including Tom Mosser, known for his iconic “Golden Retriever at the Museum” series; Lisa Pinette’s one of a kind custom pet portrait pillows from “Pillow Your Pet;” and Sara England, who is known for her unique dog art at “Sara England By Design.” And rumor has it that the New England Golden Jubilee has two more big announcements for this special raffle! Follow them on Facebook to get all the details! Raffle tickets will be available only at the event, so don’t miss this great opportunity to win wonderful and unique prizes while supporting Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue!
Although the New England Golden Jubilee is a joyous celebration, it is also a time to pay tribute to dear friends who have crossed Rainbow Bridge. Attendees will gather for a solemn ceremony in front of Dog Chapel for the lighting of the Remembrance Candle, as well as honor the Heroes participating in the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. The Rev. Cn. Susan Ohlidal of St. Andrew’s Church will once again be doing a Blessing of the Animals. There will also be the presentation on the 2024 Tears of Joy award.
So what are you waiting for? Register now! Registration is FREE, but monetary donations to help cover the cost of the New England Golden Jubilee are very much appreciated. All remaining funds will be donated to the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. Every dog who registers to attend will receive a goodie bag, as well as commemorative bandana. And for the humans who want to show off their own New England Golden Jubilee swag, check out their apparel page. Please note though, the order deadline to ensure delivery before the Jubilee is April 22, 2024! A portion of each purchase from Coonhound Creative Concepts will go directly to the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study as part of the New England Golden Jubilee’s total donation for 2024!
