A Few of My Favorite Things, Dog Song

Asa is disappointed that they continue to play that song on the radio that gives dogs and bees a bad reputation. You know the song with the lines “when the dog bites, when the bee stings.” We’ve never bitten anyone, and after years of beekeeping our bees have never stung us either. Last year Asa rewrote “My Favorite Things” to reflect what dogs really like, and was hoping it would replace the old version. I guess it takes awhile to become a timeless Holiday classic, so here it is again in case anyone forgot…

Hikes in new places
And rolling in puddles
Car rides that lead to old and new adventures
Brown Chewy boxes delivered to me
These are a few of my favorite things

Bright colored stuffies and things that go squeaky
Doorbells and car keys
And treat jars with cookies
Wild squirrels that run as I chase them with glee
These are a few of my favorite things

Walks on the beaches without any leashes
Snuggles and cuddles on couches with friends
Snowy white winters that melt into mud
These are a few of my favorite things

When Mom vacuums
When the storm strikes
When Dad has to work
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so sad!

My sincere apologies to Julie Andrews, Rogers & Hammerstein, but we like our version better. “Bright copper kettles?” “Whiskers on kittens?” Who really likes those anyways?
