On July 1, 2025 astronomers made an exciting discovery! An object is zipping through space at the rapid speed of 118,000 miles an hour, which is the fastest object ever sighted in our solar system! Moreover, it was thought to be headed towards Earth! However, upon closer examination NASA scientists using the James Webb Space Telescope concluded it would only come within 170 million miles of Earth. Or would it?
Some speculate that this object from interstellar space is a cosmic iceberg billions of years old, or perhaps a comet. Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb has a different theory. “This object could be an alien probe, sent on a reconnaissance mission through our solar system on a course that kept it, deliberately, out of reach of our fastest rockets.” Those in ufology may recognize Loeb for his previous theory regarding Oumuamua, the first of three unusual objects spotted from interstellar space since 2017. Back then Loeb argued, it was “a solar sail created by an alien civilization, floating like driftwood through interstellar space, or perhaps even an alien probe dispatched on a scouting mission to our solar system.” What struck him as curious about this newest object, which is being called 3I/Atlas, short for 3 Interstellar Atlas, is that the trajectory lines up to within 5 degrees of the orbital plane of Earth. This will also take it close to Jupiter, Mars and Venus. The odds of this being on that plane is 1 in 500. It all seems too deliberate in Loeb’s opinion. Never mind the fact that it is projected to increase in speed to three times faster than our fastest rockets! But before you start to panic, even Loeb isn’t positive that it is a definite piece of extraterrestrial technology, and only ranks it as 4 on his scale of 10 for such things.
I have my own theory on what this object racing through space could be. It is none other than my brother, the renowned Dog Ufologist, Angel Chuck Billy! Since crossing Rainbow Bridge he has been experimenting with new skills. Back in January, first it was the basics of sending us a meteor shooting across the night sky, as well as cryptic messages by way of an unexplained 24/7 ALF television channel. In July he took things up a notch by making the planet spin faster for a day, and even figured out a way to create a rare “Black Moon” last weekend in August. So why wouldn’t he figure out a way to rocket himself through space? Need more proof? Look at the timing! I think Angel Chuck Billy is trying to reach Earth in time to attend the Exeter UFO Festival this weekend! He always wanted to be a presenter at this event, but was ignored. Well there’s no ignoring him if he lands next to the town hall in his rocket ship this Labor Day Weekend!
But that’s just my theory. If you’d like to learn more about what scientists are saying about 3I/Atlas, I recommend The Times‘ August 22, 2025 article, “Comet? UFO? Astronomers puzzle over fastest object in solar system.”
