Today is national “Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day!” So to celebrate Asa and myself will each answer a question from our kitty cousins, Koloa and DeNiro. For those of you wondering why we didn’t also ask Misty, well to be honest she scares us. And since we spend a lot of time at her house, we didn’t want to accidentally offend her. First up, Asa will answer Koloa’s question.
Koloa: Everything always seems new and exciting to you. Do dogs suffer from short term memory loss?
Asa: I have two words for you: Carpe Diem! Dogs would rather seize the day not sleep the day. We live in the moment and do not hold grudges on the past or plot future revenge. I can understand how this may seem strange from a cat’s perspective. Another way to explain our constant state of excitement is everyday is like Christmas morning! But then again, I recently learned that in Iceland if someone does not receive an article of clothing on Christmas an enormous black cat eats you. So perhaps disregard the every morning is Christmas analogy… Oh look Squirrel!!!
Chuck Billy: Well it seems that Asa was distracted by a squirrel outside our window, so let’s move on to DeNiro’s question.
DeNiro: What is your goal when you are barking at the “other” dog in the window/oven/on any reflective surface? Do you ever wonder why they always look and act like you?
Chuck Billy: Oh that’s an easy question. Dogs like to take advantage of every opportunity to make new friends! We are very social creatures, not aloof like some other animals. Therefore we always bark “hello” to both real and imaginary friends. You can never have too many playmates! In fact, the bigger our pack the better. So we are constantly looking to add new friends…even cats! As for do we ever wonder why they always look and act just like us. We prefer to err on the side of caution in case one of our siblings is suddenly stuck in the oven or outside our second floor window. I’m the spitting image of my brother, Ryder, you know. And it has been said that Asa looks very similar to his older sister Dea. It would be horribly rude if we didn’t acknowledge them if they suddenly turned up.
So there you have it folks. The answers to our kitty cousins’ questions! I hope you all take the time to celebrate “Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day” with your feline friends today. If you’re a cat, pondering the mysteries of life or would just like a dog’s perspective on things, please feel free to ask us a question in the comments section.
