For 21 years the Green Mountain Iron Dog has put out the challenge that “Any dog can be an Iron Dog!” Well this year is your chance to prove it! The 21st Annual Green Mountain Iron Dog is going to be virtual!
You create the course layout, in the location of your choosing. Make it as difficult as you want. Snap a picture of you and your dog running/completing the course, and submit it to Green Mountain Iron Dog to be posted on their 21st Annual Iron Dog album on their website.
Signing up for the Virtual Iron Dog is not required, but highly encouraged. With the support of participants and spectators over the years, they have been able to support Police K9s all over Vermont, with event proceeds going to the Vermont Police Canine Association to be used to help fund the training and equipment for K9 Teams, which their department is unable to fund. When you sign up for the Virtual Iron Dog, you will receive a package that includes (1) Wicking Iron Dog T-Shirt (available in multiple colors), (1) Die Cut Vinyl Iron Dog Sticker, (1) Iron Dog Patch, as well as the entrance into a raffle for a $20 Iron Dog store gift card to be used on some more awesome swag! To help support the Green Mountain Iron Dog and Vermont Police Canine Association, purchase the 2020 Virtual Iron Dog Package. The package is $30, and includes shipping.
This is a fun opportunity for you and your dog, along with your friends and family to support a great cause while having fun social distancing! The rules of the Virtual Iron Dog are simple. A dog must compete with a person, and the person is encouraged to do the same obstacles as the dog. Think of it as a dog agility course but with obstacles for humans to do too. Want to make it more like the in-person Green Mountain Iron Dog? Ask your family or friends to design a course and then surprise you with what they create! Or make it a family project setting up obstacles for you and your pup to try. Can’t resist a competition? Challenge your friends to make a course to compete on too! Have fun! Be creative! Don’t think you have what it takes, but want to support the brave K9s who keep Vermont safe? Donations are gladly accepted! Green Mountain Iron Dog is happy to accept any donations for either the Vermont Police Canine Association or Lacey’s Fund. When donating, you will have the choice of donating to either. Donations to Vermont Police Canine Association will go towards funding the training and equipment for K9 Teams, which their department is unable to fund. Donations made to Lacey’s Fund will assist K9 Handlers in paying for medical treatment for their retired K9s. 100% of each donation you make, will go to towards the selection you choose. Additional raffle tickets, Green Mountain swag, and t-shirts, can also be purchased at their store.
