Announcement from Asa’s World Tour of Maine’s producer, Philip Sloth, for immediate release: Today Asa is cranking it up to 11 – his 11th birthday that is! As a true rock star, Asa got here in dramatic fashion with many twists and turns. Even Nigel Tufnel and the rest of the boys in Spinal Tap would be impressed with the lengths Asa went through to go one higher!

Alright, truth be told, this past week Asa has partied harder than all of the legendary rock stars combined. He is spending the day napping, as he continues to recover from complications from nasal surgery to remove a nasty fungal infection. The drain will be staying in place a little longer, until Friday, and he continues to be on a lot of medications. But the good news is the swelling is going down, his eye has opened more, and he can see! It is too soon to know what, if any, damage was done to the eye, but we are all breathing a little easier now. Asa especially is breathing easier, because more of the fungus which triggered all this has left his nasal cavities. And through it all, Asa continues to be his happy self greeting adoring fans with his signature smile and a tail wag.

We’ll have a proper birthday party for Asa once he’s feeling better. But don’t worry, prior to this series of unfortunate events, he did have an intimate celebration with his family, and got to enjoy a little cake.
