Asa’s Formidable Gift

As many of you know, a few years ago Asa and I took over the guest room as our room. It’s our space to do as we please, from curling up for a peaceful night’s sleep, a place to relax when we need a little quiet time, or perhaps hide a few secrets from the humans. But Dad had to go and ruin that last part, by accidentally revealing his Father’s Day gift from Asa.

Last night when tucking us in to bed, Dad thought it felt stuffy in our room, and turned on a fan. That’s when our quiet evening routine became a big deal. Dad screamed! Although he now denies it was a scream, and claims it was more of a gasp. Mom came running, asking if Asa and I were alright. I do like that our safety was her concern, when it was Dad who yelped. Then hilarity ensued when Dad realized what he thought was a mouse scurrying across the room, was actually just one of Asa’s fur balls blowing in the breeze from the fan. For you see, Asa’s Father’s Day gift was going to be the biggest fur ball he ever made. And trust me, Asa’s been working really hard shedding this past month to make it.

Sorry Asa, but I’m sure Mom will add your name to the gift she picked up for Dad. It won’t be as personal as your ginormous fur ball, but what can you do?

I wasn’t finished yet! Although it may no longer be a surprise, Dad’s reaction gave me an even better idea! I’m going to make Dad a mouse friend with my fur ball, so he won’t be scared if he meets any of my real mice friends hiding in the basement.
