Asa’s Wild Night

Asa here.  I can’t believe Mom and Dad went to see Bon Jovi without me!  Don’t they know ever since I was a puppy all I’ve dreamed about is becoming a rock star?  I know once Jon Bon Jovi meets me, he’ll invite me to join him onstage and sing one of their iconic songs!  This was my big chance!  So although I’m usually a really obedient dog, I knew I had to break a few rules and follow them to Boston for my big moment in the spotlight!

After an uneventful train ride, I arrived at the arena and was immediately struck by the size of it.  How was I ever going to get backstage?  Easy!  I’m adorable!  No one can resist an adorable Golden Retriever who needs help!  After surveying the various roadies wandering around with their coveted backstage passes, I finally sniffed one that I knew would usher me backstage.  He smelled like dog, specifically a Bulldog.  Anyways, I knew that road weary staff member, who no doubt was missing his dog, would want to help me.  I walked up to him with my most downtrodden look.  “Are you lost, big fella?”  Wow, this was working better than I dreamed.  He even noticed my impressive size and that I’m a Dire Wolf!  This helpful soul immediately ushered me backstage while he went to find help.

I happily trotted by his side taking in all that is the backstage area.  There were all sorts of people to play fetch with me in the long hallways!  But I was on a mission.  Although I was sorry to leave my new best friend, because I was starting to consider a back up career as a sound technician, I could not resist the roar of the crowd.  So when the opportunity arose, I darted out onto the stage!

There I was with an arena full of fans and they were all there to see ME!  Ok, they weren’t.  My imagination got the better of me.  Not to mention my nerves too.  I froze.  There I was standing next to my HERO for all the world to see!  Well luckily not everyone saw me.  I would have got into really big trouble if Mom or Dad noticed me standing on the stage.  But luckily for me, Mom was focused on Jon Bon Jovi’s every move, and Dad was keeping a close watch on Mom so she wouldn’t try to run away with Jon.  As for me, the night was just a blur of excitement!  I happily barked along to their iconic anthem Living on a Prayer.  Then just like that the night was over, and I was back on the train headed home.  Was it all a dream?  Nonsense!  Just look at these photos my fans in the audience took of my wild night on stage…

I brought my ball just in case Jon Bon Jovi wanted to play fetch. He didn’t. But it was worth a shot.

In awe of their new guitarist, Phil X. Maybe they’ll hire me as a backup singer?

Ok, I may have gone a bit too far asking the keyboardist, David Bryan, for a belly rub during their final bow.
