It is the announcement you’ve all been waiting for! It is time to hit the road for Asa’s World Tour of Maine 2025! Inspired by losing my eye due to GRPU in the winter of 2023, Angel Chuck Billy encouraged my dreams of being a rock star, and wanting to see the world, by embarking on this grand adventure. Now in its third summer, and under new management, I am ready to hit the road to continue exploring places in Maine named for countries and famous cities around the globe! So what better place to kick off this grand adventure than at Eartha, the world’s largest rotating and revolving globe, located within the former headquarters of the DeLorme mapping corporation in Yarmouth, Maine!

Weighing in at approximately 5,600 pounds (2,500 kg), with a diameter of over 41 feet (12.5 m), it is a 1:1,000,000 scale replica of the planet, mounted at a 23.5 degree angle, which is the same axial tilt as Earth. Today the building is the research and development center for the satellite communications company, Garmin, and the atrium is open during normal business hours to get a closer look. It is also visible from Route 1, and illuminated at night, for those just passing through town, and not able to stop. Now not to point paws, or sound ungrateful for this big announcement, but we visited on a Saturday morning when the building was closed, and the planet is not illuminated. So this is as close as I could get, and the best photo of it with the sun’s glare.

Speaking of glare, my new tour manager, Llily Llama was quick to point out that within sight just across the street of this ginormous globe is the Maine tourism visitor center, that we stopped at many times with my previous tour manager, Angel Chuck Billy. Yet, he never thought for us to pose here while on my world tours. This isn’t a competition, Llily Llama! You’re both good tour managers!

Anyways, Llily Llama thought this spot would be a good place to have my launch party. So I’ll just hang out here waiting for everyone to arrive, while reflecting on where my world tour of Maine has taken me already. Let’s see, according to my calculations, I’ve visited 38 towns the first two legs of my summer tour in 2023 and 2024.

That figure doesn’t include all the scenic walks, mountains scaled, getting lost on a few trails, learning all sorts of Maine history, searching for an extinct town, hanging out at celebrity homes, and meeting BIG friends! Speaking of celebrities and friends, Llily Llama by any chance do you know when the guests will arrive for my 2025 tour launch party?

Oh never mind, the tour has been delayed enough already! I’ve got places to explore! On with the show!
