Bear’s Random Act of Kindness

Thank you Bear for coming to Mom’s rescue!  No, not my cousin Bear, but my new neighborhood Bear.  We’d like to thank our new neighbor Bear and his Dad for their random act of kindness on Monday.  As you know our Dad mysteriously disappeared during the big Maine Blizzard, leaving Mom with the formidable task of removing a whole lot of snow.  Undaunted she headed out on Monday morning to play that weird shoveling game of moving snow from one spot to another.  To be honest, we’re not really sure how she thought she could remove that waist high snowbank blocking the end of the driveway with just a shovel.  Especially considering the brunt of the storm was still to come!

Shovel full by shovel full she plugged away at the heavy wet snow, as we watched from the warmth of an upstairs window.  Asa and I couldn’t help but wonder why she would even want to remove such a perfectly good snowbank.  After all, it was clear from our vantage point if we climbed it we could no doubt reach the Squirrels hiding at the top of the trees!  That would be awesome!  But I digress.

Just when we gave up on Mom ever coming inside to play with us again, that’s when a miracle happened.  Bear and his Dad came driving by in their plow truck, and stopped to ask if they could help.  Mom’s heart skipped a beat at this kind gesture!  In what would have taken Mom hours, they effortlessly pushed the huge mountain of snow to the side.  This made it so much easier for Mom to keep up with the new snow that fell that day, making it effortless for Dad to get his car in the driveway when he randomly reappeared from his travel ordeal.  Oh and best yet, Bear pushed the snow closer to the trees, so I have an even better chance of reaching the Squirrels!

Thank you Bear and Bear’s Dad!  Your random act of kindness meant the world to our Mom, and we promise to pay it forward to someone else in need.  Welcome to the neighborhood!  We look forward to playing with you once all this snow disappears!

Mom wouldn’t let me pose by the driveway snowbank, for fear I’d try to reach the tree top Squirrels.  But this photo gives you a vague idea on the amount of snow.  Thanks again Bear!
