Best Holiday Ever

Asa here.  I don’t know why Chuck Billy wrote such a negative blog about Independence Day.  Quite frankly I think it was the best holiday yet!  We began our celebration by attending a friend’s delicious cookout.  Unlike our parents who don’t like to share their table food with us, the children at this party were more than willing to give us a hot dog…or two actually!  The only drawback is that we weren’t allowed to swim in their pool.  I heard the adults make some comment about Chuck Billy ruining last year’s party by doing a canon ball into the pool and soaking the guests, then shaking off next to an elderly woman.  That actually sounded quite fun!  Not sure why they wouldn’t want to repeat that this year.  Anyways, while Chuck Billy kept an eye to the sky for fireworks, I kept my eye on the smallest and wobbliest of the children hoping to score more food.

The next day we went to the beach, followed by a picnic at Fort McClary.  You can read our review on Fort McClary on our Dog Friendly Places page.  It was around then that I realized this holiday revolved around eating at new places.  Who wouldn’t like a holiday dedicated to eating?!  Oh sure things got a bit noisy in the evening with the fireworks, but I was so tired I curled up and went to sleep.  Besides, I don’t know what Chuck Billy was complaining about by calling it the Worst Holiday Ever.  I watched the fireworks on TV and thought they were quite harmless.

So in my opinion the Fourth of July is the best holiday ever!  Ok, so I have to admit I was only two days old on Thanksgiving so don’t really remember that, and I slept through Christmas.  But I was wide awake for Easter and I would much rather wear a patriotic bandana than those silly bunny ears!  Besides, a holiday dedicated to being Independent is perfect for a puppy who is testing his boundaries and exploring the world around him!
