Birthday Debriefing

After a weekend of recuperating, Asa is finally ready to tell you all about his birthday party.  So without further ado, here’s Asa:  Wow, what a celebration!  To think there was a national holiday for my birthday!  The day started with a big parade in New York City in my honor and televised for all the world to see.  I couldn’t believe none other than Snoopy joined the parade, despite his busy schedule promoting his new movie.  Even Hello Kitty turned out to celebrate my special day.  Who is this Macy, anyways?  It was very nice of him to have a parade for me, considering we’ve never met.

Next we piled into the car for the ride to my grandparents’ house.  With each passing mile I was filled with anticipation for the feast they were holding in my honor.  How could Chuck Billy sleep at a time like this?!  When we arrived the house was filled with all sorts of wonderful smells…I started drooling instantly!  But I was soon distracted by the hotties on TV for the National Dog Show, and I somehow missed that my family sat down to dinner without me.  It wasn’t until they were eating that I realized Chuck Billy and I were trapped in the family room without food.  But no worries.  I knew the day was still young, and there was plenty of celebrating to do!  After all a puppy only turns one once!

Finally the meal was over and Chuck Billy and I were welcomed into the living room, where my party really began!  There were piles of presents to open, with wrapping paper to shred as far as my eyes could see!  A puppy paradise!  There were toys that squeaked, toys for fetch, and weird toys I had no idea what they did but I look forward to destroying!  There were even my favorite peanut butter treats!  Also Grandpa snuck me a few pieces of turkey too.  But don’t tell Chuck Billy that, he’ll be jealous!

I’ve got to say all in all despite a few hiccups along the way (I still don’t understand why my kitty cousin vetoed reviving Lemmy’s tradition of the cat piñata) my first birthday was AWESOME!  Good thing they have a whole year to plan for my next party.  I wonder how they will top this one!
