Buck Fever

Once again Dad and Pepere have come down with a case of Buck Fever, and unlike the flu there’s no vaccine to cure it.  Leaving them with no choice but to let it run its course.  The first sign that they are coming down with it is a sudden interest in the woods.  They develop a longing look in their eyes as they survey all woods they past.  This soon develops into long phone conversations in which they strategize how to find these elusive deer.  Finally, Buck Fever escalates to Pepere showing up at our house dressed like a pile of leaves but with a splash of orange.  He and Dad quickly load their gear into Pepere’s truck and head off to a cabin further north where they will quarantine themselves until the worse of the symptoms are over.  The day they leave is a rather big event here.  Even the deer in our woods have been known to come out in our yard and wave goodbye to them as they drive away!
