Valentine’s Day has come and gone, and my brother Asa is feeling a bit down today. For you see his “girlfriend,” who he has never actually met nose to nose, sent him a Valentine’s Day gift. And now our self-proclaimed Romeo, is pining away for his true love, as he sits staring out the window singing his latest parody. This time it is inspired by Bon Jovi’s “Always,” which coincidentally was written about a stalker. In my opinion, I think Asa is a stalker too, considering all the time he spends reading her social media posts!
This Romeo is lonely
‘Cause he can’t see his love
She lives in a different state
That this old dog can’t walk
It’s been icy since December
Now I’m pouting in my house
You see I’ve always used an Uber
But “No Dogs Rule” is a bust
Now I could take a Greyhound
Like they did in old movies
Well, I guess they don’t allow that anymore
Or, maybe, that’s just me?
But I will sit here waiting, always
And I’ll be here until it’s time to eat, always
I’ll be here while I sit and whine
‘Cause my squeaky burst and I don’t feel fine
And I know when I dine,
You’ll be on my mind
And I’ll love you always
Now your Valentines that you sent on time
Are reminders of my future wife
Some that made a squeak, some that made a grunt
One that I maybe chewed while pouting in a funk
What I’d give to run in a field with you near
To boop your nose, to hold you dear
When you see this poem, try to understand
I’ve made typos, I’m just a dog
When I scroll the pics, and I see your posts
When I see you rolling in something gross
I wish I was there ’cause you’re having fun
To play with you my beloved one
But I will sit here waiting, always
And I’ll be here until it’s time to eat, always
Did I tell you I whine for you?
I do
Did I tell you I pine for you?
I do
Take a look at this place
There’s no need to sit / stay
I’d play a game with you
Well, there ain’t no squeak
In this stuffie’s heart
But, puppy, I will give it just one more try,
I can pack up my old toys and take a drive
I’ll find a ride to be by your side
But I will sit here waiting, always
And I’ll be here until it’s time to eat, always
I’ll be here while I sit and whine
‘Cause my squeaky burst and I don’t feel fine
And I know when I dine,
You’ll be on my mind
And I’ll love you, always
