Cats vs Evil Spirits

My kitty cousins, Koloa and DeNiro, sent me this thought provoking article from Higher Perspective on how cats protect homes.  Yep, you read that right.  The fine folks at Higher Perspective actually wrote an article praising them as guard cats!  But it’s not what you think.  Whereas dogs work tirelessly protecting our homes from real intruders, cats guard our houses from ghosts and evil spirits!  But do they?

According to their post, “Cats – Protect You and Your Home From Ghosts and Negative Spirits” (Higherperspectives.com November 13, 2017), cats have the ability to keep evil spirits at bay.  They argue that cats are not only sensitive to concentrated levels of negative energy, they possess an “uniquely powerful aura” that repels ghosts and evil spirits.  Well you have to ask yourself, if that’s the case why are black cats always seen hanging out at haunted houses?  Surely they’re not warding off any spirits in houses that are obviously full of them!  Also if cats are against negative energy, why are they the pet of choice for witches and evil villains?  I’ve seen plenty of movies where their pet cats aren’t preventing their evil intent.  In fact, cats are often portrayed as assisting villains!

The article goes on to say, if you notice a cat staring intensely at nothing, or even purposely wandering around your house following something you can’t see, the cat is “attempting to trap the evil spirit in its powerful energy field and lead it out of the house.”  Once again I’d like to insert my thoughts here.  I have it on good authority from my canine cousins, Kalani and Azure, that if their cat siblings are trotting around the house following something, it is no doubt an insignificant bug.  Also from my personal experiences with my kitty cousin, Misty, if a cat is staring intensely at something – get out of it’s way!  It means it is about to swat you!  My poor brother Lemmy’s nose learned that lesson the hard way.  For any cat supporters, before you go accusing Lemmy of being an evil threat to Misty’s family, he was the sweetest dog, and didn’t deserve those claws to the nose.

Now here’s where this article gets very misleading.  The anonymous author recommends in order to fully protect yourself from negative spirits, especially the evil eye, you need to hold your cat and pet it in a very specific way.  “The correct way to hold your cat to enjoy the full power of its force field is to use your left hand to gently stroke its neck while simultaneously using your right hand to stroke across its tail.”  I really think they should have put a disclaimer here of, “professional cat lady, do not try this at home!”  This article gives the false impression that it is easy to pet a cat, not to mention implies a cat can be picked up and held.  This time I refer to my Mom’s experience cat sitting for a friend.  She can definitely say the scratches on her arms, neck, and face, are proof it’s not easy to pet or hold a cat.  In fact, I’d go as far as to argue that cats inflict negative energy!

I must admit though, this article may be right and cats do have the ability to repel evil spirits.  After all, cats are scary and I try to keep my distance.  So why wouldn’t a ghost be scared too?  However, after reviewing the preponderance of evidence on cat behavior, I’d have to say this article was no doubt written by a cat wanting to lull us into a false sense of security so they can bring evil into our homes!

[Editor’s Note: Asa would like to add that he does not necessarily share the opinions expressed by Chuck Billy, and greatly respects his kitty cousins.  Thank you Koloa and DeNiro for this thought provoking article on the important role of cats!]

My sincere apologies for this photo. I reached out to both real cats and ghosts, but neither would comment or pose with me for this article.

You have to ask yourself, is my kitty cousin Koloa really trying to protect us from evil spirits?
