Dad, our pack leader, has the flu! But don’t panic. As his second in command I am prepared to lead our pack and formulated a plan for the day. First off – Breakfast! Now since I am pack leader, I feel I should have a similar breakfast to what Dad normally enjoys. Therefore, I would like eggs to go with my kibble. Scrambled, please.
Next we need exercise. But rather than our usual walk, we will head to the beach. Asa and I have not had a proper beach romp since December! That is unacceptable. Good thing I am alpha dog today, and it is up to me to decide what is best for our pack. After running on the beach, we will return home to check on how Dad is doing. Asa and I have perfect bedside manners, and will snuggle up beside him for a nap. I can only assume that Mom will try to enforce her silly “no dogs on the bed rule.” However, our fearless leader needs us, and we will stop at nothing to remain by his side. Besides with temperatures hovering around freezing, Mom will no doubt be cold from watching us run on the beach, and probably won’t mind a warm cuddle too.
Once we are well rested, it is time to help with the chores. To the dump we go! Now I know what Mom will be thinking, “this isn’t dump day.” But what she doesn’t realize is the dump is the most awesome place to visit, and just like Vegas, it never closes. I’ve driven by it on numerous occasions when it is “closed,” and can smell its delectable aromas wafting through the air. On the way home from the dump we will stop at the bank to make a withdrawal. One treat each for Asa and myself. After all, we need to keep up our strength while Dad is convalescing.
By the time we return from our errands, hopefully Dad will feel well enough to join us in spending the rest of the afternoon binge watching our favorite TV show together, namely Ancient Aliens. This will give Mom the opportunity to vacuum the sand off the bed from our post-beach nap with Dad. See, I thought of everything! Now Mom, will you please hurry up and post this! Time is wasting!
