Chesterfield Gorge, Chesterfield, NH

Chesterfield Gorge State Wayside, in Chesterfield, NH, is an easy dog friendly scenic walk.  The 0.7 mile Wilderness Loop Trail follows Wilde Brook and winds its way around both sides of the gorge, with scenic views of the series of waterfalls.  There is a fence around the steep drop-off to protect curious pups, but there are also plenty of opportunities to dip paws in the cool water.  This is a quick walk, but worth a visit after heavy rains to watch the water cascading over the ledges in this deep gorge.

Dogs are allowed on-leash.  There is a large parking lot, with a small visitor center and restrooms, and picnic area.  Admission is Free, but donations are always welcome.

To plan your visit, including directions, weather forecast and photos, please visit our Chesterfield Gorge page.  While in the area, we recommend also visiting Madame Sherri Forest for another quick walk to visit the ruins of her “castle,” or for a more difficult hike along the Ann Stokes Loop Trail with beautiful views of New Hampshire Mountains.  For additional scenic walks and trails, please visit our Dog Friendly Places recommendations.
