Wow! I can’t believe this is my 100th post! It all began on January 12, 2015 when I decided I wanted to start a blog to talk about my new little brother joining the family. Back then I envisioned “Living with a Golden” would be a fun and informative chat about guiding Asa through the trial and tribulations of being a puppy. Little did I realize that along the way he would teach me a thing or two. Like puppies need to be watched…constantly! I still can’t believe I lost him during that blizzard. Also at times it was difficult being snowed in with Asa, during what proved to be one of the snowiest winters on record. Who knew puppies had so much energy?! But I found ways to entertain him, while teaching him important life skills along the way.
When Spring finally arrived, it brought with it a whole new set of challenges. The melting snow and new sounds of nature as the world awoke from it’s Winter slumber really proved to be disconcerting for Asa. Would you believe I had to potty train him all over again, because he would only go on the snow?! But little did I realize he had an even bigger surprise for me. I was totally unprepared for his Zombie Puppy teething phase. I even developed a scientific test to see if Mom and Dad accidentally brought home a zombie! I must admit, I’m still questioning my results. Spring also brought with it adventures beyond our backyard. It’s been fun seeing the world through Asa’s eyes as we explore dog friendly beaches and trails.
Now that Summer is here, Asa and I have become quite the duo. Ok, so it helps that I’m often attached to him on a tandem leash. But either way you look at it, we make a great team. Heck, he even somehow helped me to convince our helicopter dog parents to leave us at home with a petsitter! I never could have achieved that one alone. Another surprise from this blog is the many new friends I’ve made along the way – YOU! So whether you’ve been following us since day one, or joined us somewhere along our journey, I THANK YOU for your support! I hope you continue to join me on my grand adventure – Living with a Golden!
