Congratulations WCC’s Bea!

I’d like to wish my half sister, Bea, a hearty congratulations for graduating the Warrior Canine Connection’s service dog program!  She and 13 other dogs have progressed through the program from puppies through adults, and are graduating ready for a lifetime of support to Military Veterans.  Warrior Canine Connection (WCC) is a therapeutic service dog training program that harnesses the healing power of the human-animal bond.

It’s hard to imagine just two years ago, my little half sister left her whelping box at the tender age of eight weeks to begin this incredible journey.  Most dogs are bred specifically by the WCC program.  But my biological Dad, Eclipse, had the honor of one of his daughters being selected into the program.  After spending time at their “Healing Quarters” in Brockville, MD, where she was coddled by their volunteer petters, she began her training.  Bea went to live with her “puppy parents” who for the next year and a half taught her important skills, and exposed her to a wide variety of public settings and situations to prepare Bea for advanced training and placement with a disabled Veteran.  From there she completed her training, and graduated on October 17, 2015 as a Therapy Dog, ready for a lifetime of service and support to her Veteran!
