Days without Cone this Year – 0

Asa here. I should have listened to Chuck Billy when he told me, “no good deed goes unpunished.” Then perhaps I wouldn’t be starting off 2020 wearing a cone. Let me explain…

To celebrate the New Year we went on a First Day Hike at a local land preserve. When Dad was loading me back into the car afetrwards, he noticed that despite there being close to a foot of snow on the ground, I somehow managed to get pine sap on my fur. No big deal. This isn’t the first time I’ve been in a sticky situation. So Mom said she would clean it off of me when we got home.

Well during the short ride home I decided that I would help Mom and Dad by removing the pine sap myself. After all, Chuck Billy is always talking about lending a helping paw. This was the least I could do to thank them for taking me on such a fun hike. Apparently Mom and Dad disagreed.

When we arrived home and Mom opened our travel crate, she immediately yelled, “Asa! What have you done!” Not the response I was envisioning, to say the least. Ok, I admit to remove the pine sap I also had to remove a large chunk of fur. But hey, I got the sap off. So Mom no longer had to worry about doing it.

Well long story short, it’s now January 3rd and here I sit in my cone because I won’t stop licking the spot to let it heal. On the bright side though, Chuck Billy has been very helpful licking it for me. Just don’t tell Mom! She has no appreciation for what it means to help someone.

They make Christmas countdown calendars. I wonder if they make cone countdown calendars too?
