Dock Diving Dreams

A couple weeks ago we attended Dog Daze II Dock Diving competition in Kittery.  What an amazing sport!  It combines everything that we love!  There’s running, jumping, fetching, and swimming!  It is the ultimate sport for Golden Retrievers!  But as usual, Mom and Dad crushed our dreams.  Would you believe they forced us to sit and watch the other dogs having fun?!  They said that we should watch and learn what this sport is all about before we try it.  And adding insult to injury, Mom said even if we did try, we’d probably stop the competition because we’d refuse to get out of the water and not let the other dogs swim.  Ok, so she may have a point there.

But luckily for us, the Seacoast Dock Dogs are having an Open Practice for nonmembers this Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Berwick Bark Park (410 Portland Street, Berwick, ME).  The cost is $20, and it is open to all dogs regardless of breed, size, shape, ability or age.  All you need to bring is yourself, your dog, a 4 – foot leash, towels, and drinking water for yourself and your dog.  They provide the dock and the water as well as the experts!  Excellent!  That certainly beats our plan of trying to recreate dock diving in our backyard.  Oh, and if anyone asks, it was totally Asa’s idea to remove the backdoor!

[Editor’s Note: It goes without saying, please don’t recreate dock diving at home using kiddie pools and a door!  But for safety sake we thought we’d put in that disclaimer.]

Then tried to recreate it at home. What could possibly go wrong?!
