I’d like to give a shoutout to the smallest and newest veterinarian at my animal hospital, Dr. Spider DVM! There I was waiting in the exam room for my veterinarian, when all of a sudden this spider came walking in under the door from the restricted area where the doctor usually enters. Clearly this was no average spider, as he expertly avoided my curious paws and nose. He didn’t even scurry to safety up the nearest wall, like Asa’s spider friends do at home. Instead he ignored me, and went about his rounds. Despite all my years of going to this animal hospital, I had never seen him before. Perhaps it was his first day on the job?
Upon entering the room, Dr. Spider DVM confidently walked past me, straight across the floor over to the exam table. Mom, Dad and I watched as he then walked around the entire base, pausing to check each corner. Not finding any patients, he walked past me again with the professionalism of a veterinarian accustomed to working with large breeds. This time though he exited under the opposite door that led to the waiting room. He must have been checking with the receptionist to see if his patient was running late.
By then my veterinarian entered the room and began my exam. But Mom happened to notice Dr. Spider DVM returned a little while later from under the waiting room door, retraced his steps around the exam table, and exited the door he initially entered. He must have forgotten something during his first visit. Or perhaps he had the wrong room again? Being new to the practice it is easy to get lost in that building because all the exam rooms look alike, especially from his perspective.
Regardless, I’m glad to see that my animal hospital has a physician to help even the tiniest of patients.
