Sometimes it’s good to appreciate an ordinary day. Even if the circumstances which cause it are out of the ordinary. Dad, my right paw man, wasn’t feeling well this weekend. Therefore all our plans came to a screeching halt. No weekly errand to the town dump. No strutting our stuff at Ogunquit’s Patriotic Pooch Pageant. Not even so much as a short hike in our woods. Just a quiet weekend at home, together, in front of the TV.
Even Mother Nature cooperated. It was 60 degrees on Friday, filling us with all sorts of ideas of how to spend the weekend running here, there and everywhere. But on Saturday, as Dad’s symptoms worsened, so did the weather. By Sunday we woke up to a cold and blustery day, more like February than April. Yet that further motivated us to slow down, and just enjoy a quiet day at home together.
I’m happy to report the rest did Dad good. He is feeling much better today, and is ready to take on another work week. As for me, I’m feeling content knowing we were together all weekend long. A good reminder that sometimes the ordinary can be extraordinary.
