Family Reunion: A Celebration of Grandma Rue

The social event of the year is finally here!  This is our third annual family reunion hosted by my brother Duncan and my little sister Dea, and boy do they know how to host a party!  There is swimming, treats, games, treats, doggie spa, and did I mention treats?  It is a dog’s paradise!

This year our party turned into a celebration of the life of my dear Grandma Rue, who recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  She attended last year’s party, and true to character she spent time with each of her children and grandchildren.  Attached is a picture from last year when Grandma Rue was listening to a riveting story from my sister Saffy.  She will be missed.  It was Grandma Rue who gave my Mom and Dad the once over when they first came to meet me.  She and Momma Sage were’t going to let their “little man” go home with just anyone.  In fact, Grandma Rue was always there for me when I was in the whelping box watching over me and my siblings, and offering Momma Sage a helping paw.  She cared for Asa and his siblings too.  We all have fond memories of Grandma Rue.

Despite the fact our hearts were heavy, Grandma Rue would not want droopy tails.  So we rallied and had a wonderful day celebrating her legacy that lives on in us!  In attendance were my siblings (including my twin brother Ryder), younger siblings, and step-siblings, as well as my Aunt Brie.  Momma Sage couldn’t attend this year because she recently welcomed new siblings into our family, and was home caring for them.  Also another important guest was not in attendance  – ME!  Yet again my parents disappointed me.  In case you’re keeping track I had to postpone my birthday party due to Asa’s homecoming.  Now due to “family obligations” they made me miss my favorite event of the year!  What could be more important?!  Dogs ARE family!  They’re MY family!  But not to worry, Duncan and Dea are already at work planning a family hike later on this fall.  In the meantime, please enjoy these pictures from last year’s reunion.
