First Aid for Pets Class at ARLGP

Summer adventures are right around the corner! But are you prepared in case an emergency happens? We at Living with a Golden strongly believe in the importance of knowing the basics of Pet First Aid and CPR.  On Sunday, May 5, 2019 the Animal Rescue League of Greater Portland will be hosting a CPR and First Aid for Pets class taught by April Begosh of Healthy Pets NH.

We cannot stress how much we learned during Healthy Pets NH’s 6 hour hands-on workshop, from basic first aid to what to do in an emergency situation.  The workshop moves quickly and a lot of valuable information is presented in an easy to understand approach through lecture, demonstrations and hands-on practice.  April also gears the class to fit the needs of the participants and their specific questions.  Although this is a serious subject, April’s approach is at times lighthearted, and does involve a cat joke or two.

This course includes: Restraining an Injured Pet, Pet CPR, Rescue Breathing, Choking Management, Wellness Assessment, Heat Injuries, Poisoning, Bleeding Protocols, Bites and Stings, Seizures, and Injury Assessment, among other topics.

This potentially lifesaving class will be taking place on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (217 Landing Road, Westbrook, ME). The cost is $75 payable to Healthy Pets NH, and each class participant receives a PetSaver® 40-page handbook filled with valuable information in the event of an emergency, and 2 year certification in CPR and First Aid for Pets.  To pre-register, visit pettech.net. For more information on this lifesaving class and questions regarding this event, visit ARLGP.

Healthy Pets NH also works with animal based nonprofits in New England to offer this class as a fundraiser for your organization.  For more information on how you can arrange a CPR and First Aid for Pets Class in your area, please contact April Begosh at Healthy Pets NH or by calling 603-674-1176. For a schedule of additional upcoming CPR and First Aid for Pets classes, visit Healthy Pets NH.

Please do not bring your dog to class, stuffed practice dogs will be used for training purposes.

Sorry Asa, you will not be certified to drive the ambulance in an emergency, but pet owners will be certified to do pet CPR with this class by Healthy Pets NH.
