Extending from Biddeford Pool, Fortunes Rocks Beach offers approximately two miles of pebble covered beach. Dogs are required to be on leash all year. Between May 25 and September 15, dogs are allowed before 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM. It is better to visit during low tide, because the beach virtually disappears during high tide.
Please note that Fortunes Rocks offers limited public access. The public access stairs located at the south end are very steep and were slippery even when dry for our Golden Retrievers. Alternative paths to get to the beach are privately owned so do not expect to be able to use them during the on-season. Limited parking is available at the north and south ends of the beach, on a narrow road that is not the best situation for loading and unloading dogs. Parking permits are required from June 15 through Labor Day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and may be purchased at the Biddeford Town Hall (205 Main Street). Day passes cost $15, and beach permits are also available for extended consecutive days for between $35 and $60.
