Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk, Maine is a good dog friendly beach during the off seasons of spring and fall. From Labor Day through June 15 dogs are allowed all day on Gooch’s Beach, off leash as long as they are under voice control and the owner is carrying a leash. However, from June 15 through Labor Day, dogs are only allowed on the beach before 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM. Dogs are allowed off-leash under voice control before 9:00 AM. After 5:00 PM dogs must be on-leash. NO retractable leashes are allowed.
This long sandy beach is a popular dog walking location year round. During high tide there is limited space, so try to plan your visit during low tide for optimal running. On street parking is limited. Kennebunk Beach Permits are required from June 15 through September 15 from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Day permits are available, and can be purchased at the Town Hall and at a kiosk located at the beach. Week and season passes are also available for purchase. Because only full day passes are available, we recommend visiting other Maine Dog Friendly Beaches in the area during the Summer months that are less expensive.
