Hair Raising Experience

Today I thought I’d give you an update on Mom and Dad’s poor grooming during the pandemic. When I last updated you back in April, Dad was sporting the same hairstyle that a young Justin Bieber made famous in the early 2000s, and after a failed haircutting attempt Mom’s bangs looked like Mara Wilson’s in Miracle on 34th Street. Clearly they should have listened to my warning to Leave it to the Professionals.

Since that time their hairstyles have continued to evolve. Mom’s doctor told her to avoid visiting her salon until after her surgery, so as not to accidentally be exposed to the virus. Dad nobly declared he would not get a haircut until after Mom recovered.

For awhile there Dad was inspired to have the same topknot as Agnes in Despicable Me. Please don’t call it a man bun. Trust me, it more closely resembled a toddler’s hairstyle than any attempt at a bun, and there was nothing “manly” about it.

However, recently Dad decided it was time to finally cut it. Problem is when he declared he wouldn’t do this until after Mom’s recovery, none of us realized it still meant he wasn’t planning to visit his barber. Nope, instead Dad trusted Mom with the job of cutting his hair. Yes, Mom, who failed at simply cutting just her own bangs, never mind an entire head of hair! Thankfully Mom learned from her overeagerness, and spared most of Dad’s hair. It is still a far cry from his pre-pandemic style, but it is an improvement. He now looks more like Vector in Despicable Me, but without the snazzy tracksuit.

Mom, on the other hand, is experimenting with growing her bangs out. Although she does admit there are some drawbacks to her new look. However Asa is helping her experiment with accessories.

Asa, afraid that Mom may turn her scissors on him, has taken the opposite approach to Mom and Dad. He has been shedding his fur all summer. Actually, it’s rather amazing he has any left.

Now if you’ll please excuse me, I need to go hide. I overheard Mom and Dad discussing that I need a bath. After getting my fur just how I like it, there’s no way I’m going to let them ruin it by calling me Mr. Fluffy!
