Little Orphan Annie sang, “You’re never full dressed without a smile!” I agree that a smile completes every outfit. However, since today is National Hat Day, I’d like to add that a hat also makes a good accessory for any occasion.

For example, it is the perfect thing to wear if you’re headed out to a farmers’ market on an autumn day.

And who doesn’t enjoy a large floppy hat to provide shade in the summer?

A cap is the perfect accessory if you’re a celebrity out on a hike and would like a little anonymity.

Or if you’d like more attention, a party hat certainly does the trick!

A jaunty hat makes every celebration more festive!

And can keep your head warm if on an expedition to visit Santa at the North Pole.

A hat can also set the mood, if you happen to be auditioning for the starring role of Ebenezer Scrooge in your community theater’s production of A Christmas Carol, but was told you didn’t get the part because your Bah Humbugs were not “convincing.”

Ok, that last one may be a little too specific. But you get the point. There’s nothing like a hat to complete your look!
