Helping NOT Helping Cleanup Crew

Mom needed to go out yesterday, and she left Dad “in-charge.” Well she should know Dad isn’t ready for such responsibilities. Thankfully though, Asa and I had everything under control. Asa even did a little extra cleaning while she was out.

Sometime after she left I had an upset tummy. I know, my fault. I shouldn’t have ate that grass earlier in the morning, because grass always makes my tummy feel funny. Regardless, I felt that familiar feeling, made the vomit alarm, and then realized Mom wasn’t home to let me go outside! It is a well known fact Dad doesn’t hear the vomit alarm when he is sleeping. Apparently that also holds true when he’s awake. Therefore I did the next best thing. I ran downstairs and vomited directly in front of the backdoor.

However, Asa was quick to point out that the location of the vomit was not ideal. That made me realize what a big mistake it was! Mom wouldn’t want to come inside with that blocking the entrance, and that could mean my dinner would be late!

Asa, graciously offered though to help cleanup my mess, thus making it possible for Mom to come inside. Not to mention give Mom less work to do when she returned, as well as prove that we are perfectly capable of being left in-charge. First he ate what he could of the mess. Then he rolled in the remainder absorbing it into his fur.

There was barely a trace of it when Mom returned after her outing. But yet somehow she knew instantly that something was amiss. First she called for Dad to come downstairs. He was just as surprised as she was to see the traces of the mess, but did comment that he wondered why I ran from the office earlier. At least he noticed that! Then after examining Asa and myself Mom put together the clues.

However, did she thank Asa for cleaning it up? No! In fact the exact reverse happened, and she ended up giving both Asa and me baths! That’s the last time I let Mom leave the house without me! She didn’t even bother to ask if my tummy felt better. Which it does, thank you.

Chuck Billy: Hi Mom! I vomited. Asa: And I rolled in it. You’re welcome!
