Sunday is National Hiking Day. However, despite our not so subtle hints, Mom and Dad have been in a slump lately and we haven’t gone on many hikes. Therefore Asa figured out a way to really get their attention by writing an inspirational ode to the activity dogs love the most set to the tune of Bon Jovi’s iconic classic “Living on a Prayer.” Better yet, he even found the perfect way to debut his paw pounding anthem,”Hiking on This Trail!”

Once upon a time, in Dad’s office…

Mommy takes us for daily walks
Neighborhood is nice
We walk back and forth
It’s boring, so boring

Daddy works at his desk all day
Dreaming of outside
He wants to go play
With us, with us

I say, “We’ve gotta forget the plans you’ve got
It doesn’t make a difference if you’re working or not
I’ve got this trail map and that’s a lot
More fun, let’s go on a hike!”

Asa’s tired of playing with toys
Now he’s stuck inside
When we use to climb mountain tops
So bored.

Chuck Billy dreams of adventures all day
When he barks in the night
Asa whispers
“Brother, it’s ok, someday…”

We’ve gotta go hike with Mom and Dad
It doesn’t make a difference if they’re working or not
