I Should Stick to the Plan

I tend to stick to my hobbies. However, when Asa joined our family, I felt the need to branch out, and pursue new interests. As I leaf through these old puppy photos, I wish I didn’t log off on one of my old habits, namely my obsession with sticks!

When I was a puppy, I loved sticks! Nothing beat sawing through a tasty limb with my razor sharp teeth.

I brought a walking stick with me everywhere!

Alright, I admit at times I pined away because a log was too big to carry.

And at other times my brother, Lemmy, was stumped by my obsession.

Sure Mom tried to explain the bark was worse than my bite. But I just laughed.

However after Lemmy’s passing, and the arrival of Asa, something changed. I needed to branch out and set a good example.

After a walk in the woods, with Asa trying to help, I realized it was time for-rest. My lumberjack days were over.

Recently I was feeling like something was missing in my life, and this spring I got to the root of this issue. I started chomping on sticks again!

Is this a poplar decision with my Mom? No. Sticks are dangerous to eat. But a dog’s gotta chew what a dogs’s gotta chew!*

*Editor’s note: After showing no interest in sticks for close to a decade, we’re not sure why Chuck Billy suddenly is obsessed with them again. Nor do we understand after throwing shade on Asa’s puns all these years, he’s suddenly barking his own! It is a treemendous change!
