I just heard that this week’s Mega Millions lottery is up to 1.6 billion dollars!  This got me thinking about what I would buy if I won the lottery.  After doing a bit of math, I realized that with 1 billion dollars I could purchase 200 million bacon scented squeaky balls!  I’d never run out again, and I’d have plenty to share with all the dogs in the world!  Just think of how happy Mom would be playing endless rounds of fetch with me!

Now all that fetch would definitely make me hungry.  So with the extra money I could buy all the peanut butter and treats I’d ever want.  My Kong would never be without frozen peanut butter again!  And since I’m not selfish, I’d even splurge and buy Asa a few million of those annoying stuffies that he likes to carry around.  That should keep him busy trying to come up with names for all of them.

Then a story on the news made me realize I was dreaming too small.  The joint European-Japanese mission to the planet Mercury that blasted off on Friday cost 1.8 billion.  So for 1.6 billion I could probably fly my own spaceship to the much closer planet of Mars!  Finally I would have proof of my theory that cats are from Mars.  Also, while on the way, I would stop at the Moon.   After all, I have it on good authority from my Grandma that the Moon is made of cheese.  Who wouldn’t want to take a bite of space cheese?  In fact, I’d even bring home a big chunk for my friend Hailey, a known cheese aficionado.  That would certainly make her tail wag.  Besides, a trip into space would definitely be a grand adventure!  Just think of the reviews for Dog Friendly Places I could write!  I bet there’s not a single “No Dogs Allowed” sign on Mars!

So if you’ll please excuse me, I need to go buy a lottery ticket!  Then start clearing room in my toy box for all those bacon scented squeaky balls that I’ll be buying after Tuesday’s 1.6 billion dollar drawing!
